Dentro de dos semanas, el gobierno de Hugo Chávez, hará oficial su adhesión ISDB con un acuerdo para ser ejecutado en Caracas. Costa dijo al diario Folha en la mañana que el sistema también sería adoptado por el Ecuador y consideró la posibilidad de celebrar conversaciones con Colombia y Uruguay, de nuevo, con el fin de convencer tanto a los gobiernos a dar paso atrás en su decisión de DVB. El Superintendente de Telecomunicaciones del Ecuador, Fabián Jaramillo, señaló que el próximo mes de octubre 15, Rafael Correa anunciará el estándar de TV digital, adoptado por el Ecuador. "Estamos orientados a un único estándar de TV digital para toda América del Sur y, quién sabe toda América Latina", explicó Costa. En Brasil, 24 ciudades que ya confían en la radiodifusión digital y EPTV (Globo), Sistema Clube de Comunicação (Bandeirantes) y TV Studios (SBT) son las empresas de radiodifusión autorizadas para operar TV.
